The Mayor’s plans for London

15th January, 2010

In October 2009 the Mayor of London invited launched consultations on his draft replacement London Plan and on his draft transport strategy for the capital. AEF addresses the environmental impacts of airports right across the UK, but takes a particular interest in any airport at which national policy issues arise. With three of the nation’s largest airports in London, we keep a close eye on transport planning in the capital.

Our comments on both the draft London Plan and on the Mayor’s transport strategy for London welcome the Mayor’s commitment to oppose Heathrow expansion but challenge the assertion that new runway capacity elsewhere in the South East is essential for London’s competitiveness.
