Focusing on our members

13th March, 2012

The past fortnight has seen us publish and send out our latest newsletter to members, covering key themes for 2012, the CAA and the Civil Aviation Bill, ongoing challenges to aviation’s inclusion in the EU ETS, and a commentary on trends in recent aviation forecasts. Back copies are available through the Newsletters section of our website.

Tim provided an update on national policy issues to the annual meeting of one of our member groups in Surrey, and attended a meeting of the Department for Transport’s External Advisory Group, which considered the consultation arrangements in relation to the draft aviation policy due out at the end of this month.

We also updated the website with articles on renewed calls for Heathrow expansion, and on the exclusion of aviation from accounting under the UK’s renewable energy commitments. Finally, we have continued to work on how aviation should be included in a web tool being developed by the Department for Energy and Climate Change showing various ‘pathways’ towards meeting the legally binding target to cut our CO2 emissions by 80% of 1990 levels by 2050.
