21st December, 2021
AEF was pleased to welcome so many of our members at our 2021 AGM, held virtually on Wednesday 15th December. The business part of the meeting included the announcement that AEF and ACF will be joining forces on noise and airspace issues from the beginning of next year, with ACF becoming the Airspace and Noise Community Forum of the AEF.
We also formally thanked Lizzie Harrocks for her contribution to the organisation. After nearly five years as AEF’s Communications Officer she has now moved on to a new career in the NHS. We have been recruiting her replacement and look forward to introducing two new staff members in January.
After the formal part of the AGM we heard presentations on three topics:
1. Sahil Kher gave us an update on the Good Law Project’s challenge to the Airports National Policy Statement, the policy document that principally underpins expansion at Heathrow Airport.
2. Deborah Lovatt, AEF’s Head of Planning and Outreach, presented the findings of AEF’s 2021 members survey.
3. Ian Greene from the Department for Transport and Briar Mulholland from the CAA spoke about how work on noise and airspace policy, including community engagement, would be taken forward following the disbanding of ICCAN – the Independent Commission on Civil Aviation Noise.
We’re grateful to all our members for their support in 2021 and wish you all a Happy Christmas and New Year. The office will re-open on 4th January.
