How to use this map

Figures are annual for 2025, using CAA data.
The Filters sliders add or remove routes from the explorer based on their distance, passenger numbers, flights and passengers per flight.
The options under Colour by change which metric is shown in the colour scale.
The three route type toggles (Over sea, Overland and London routes) add or remove categories of routes in bulk.
Clicking a route line shows the details for that specific route.
Clicking an airport dot highlights all routes to and from that airport. Click the map background to clear.
The top-right panel shows three things: the total annual CO₂e of routes currently shown; the number of routes on screen; and the Airports button, which opens a live list of airports in the current view.

All figures update live as filters are adjusted.

CO₂e of each route is estimated using the DESNZ air conversion factor of 0.13552 kg CO₂e per passenger km (Total CO₂ = yearly passengers × route distance × DESNZ factor).
