Poll reveals public support for curbing the growth in air travel

20th July, 2006

A new MORI poll commissioned by the Airfields Environment Trust shows conclusively that the public back action to slow the growth of air travel, and explicitly support taxing flights to do so.

Half of the respondents were given a preamble explaining the climate change effect of aviation and support was stronger amongst this group, but even those without the preamble supported policies to curb growth by a clear majority. In other words, the public have got the message about aviation and climate change, and they want the Government to take action.
