Planning, airport expansion and environmental impacts
The planning system has a key role in managing many of the environmental impacts of aviation. But at a time when many airports are seeking to expand, government reseach is now indicating that people are more annoyed by aircraft noise than previously thought, and climate change is posing fresh challenges for planners.
On 19th March 2008, AEF held a one-day workshop for planners and local councillors exploring, among other topics, implications of the Planning Bill for airports, new forms of environmental assessment, and the relevance of climate change for planning decisions.
