The government has delayed its decision on Heathrow expansion until Jan 08.
The Government had committed itself to making an announcement on Heathrow, involving a third runway and ‘mixed mode’, before the end of this year. But transport Secretary Geoff Hoon said that he would not make an announcement until January 2009.
It is widely believed that this delay is due to political pressure, not least from Labour back-benchers.
