Cait is away for a while but the other staff have been busy.Congratulations to Cait, who rushed off to give birth to a baby daughter in August. Before that, she produced the summer newsletter. The rest of the staff are rallying round to provide cover while Cait is on maternity leave.
AEF is the only NGO or people’s representative on the Government’s South east Airports Taskforce and Tim J attended the second meeting. The terms of reference and the minutes from the first meeting in July are now available on the Department for Transport’s web site.
Tim J also presented an AEF perspective at this year’s Aviation and Environment Summit in Geneva, organised by the Air Transport Action Group (ATAG). The event, which took place in the context of upcoming meetings to develop a UN framework to reduce CO2 emissions out to 2050, featured contributions from both ICAO and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
There has been a lot of activity on helicopters in the last few weeks. Tim T has been dealing with a range of helicopter issues; in particular concerns about night noise.
AEF appeared at the ‘Examination in Public’ of the London Plan (the spatial strategy for London). Nic submitted a written statement and then appeared at the hearing on 10th Sep – see highlights. Nic also presented at the AGM of Local Authorities Aircraft Noise Committee (LAANC).
