AEF responds to first part of Aviation Strategy consultation

12th April, 2019

UPDATE May 2021: Government has passed the Air Traffic Management and Unmanned Aircraft Bill which gives it powers to force through airspace changes in cases where airports have not pursued changes which the Government considers necessary to deliver its wider airspace modernisation programme.

UPDATE October 2019: The Government has now responded to this part of the consultation. The response can be viewed here.

AEF has responded to Annex A of the Government’s draft Aviation Strategy. This part of the consultation sets out a proposal for Government to be given powers to force through airspace change in cases where airports have not pursued changes which the Government considers necessary to delivery its wider airspace modernisation programme. Our response, which sets out AEF’s opposition to the proposal on the basis that it seems to preclude meaningful community engagement about when and whether airspace changes are needed, can be read here. For background information, and to contextualise our response, the Aviation 2050 Green Paper can be read here.

Our response to Annex A of the Government’s Aviation Strategy is available here. The main consultation will close on June 20th.
