AEF responds to CAA consultation on draft procedure for reviewing classification of airspace

24th September, 2020

AEF has responded to the Civil Aviation Authority’s consultation on a draft procedure for reviewing the classification of airspace (CAP1934) which closed on 17th September. AEF has raised a number of concerns in response to the consultation, emphasising that the lack of opportunities for communities to engage in the review process could undermine community trust.

We highlight particular concern about the first ‘Consider’ stage of the proposed process which will involve high level questions, but not any analysis of airspace volumes. AEF has questioned how the CAA can consider the need for reclassifications of airspace without first scrutinising evidence.
