Government must resist industry pressure on taxation

In April this year we reported on the 2009 budget. While it announced that air passenger duty was to rise, accompanying documents showed that these modest increases in taxation would not be enough to prevent aviation emissions from continuing to grow.

Now, four months away from implementation of the new tax rates, some loud voices in the airline industry have launched a lobbying effort to have the increases abolished.
