We offer different membership rates for the following categories. ‘Association’ membership is designed for residents’ groups and environmental organisations.

Your membership will last for 12 months from the date of joining, and we will be in touch when it is time to renew.

We would like to keep you informed about issues relevant to your interests. We do this via our newsletter, members updates and briefings. Please express your preferences below.

To become a member of AEF, you must agree to the terms and conditions of AEF membership and support the organisation’s aims and objectives as outlined below.

Benefits

All AEF members are entitled to the following:

1. Access to our information and advice service to deal with your enquiries (on a fair-use basis in recognition of our limited resources) on issues including:
   • data on noise, air pollution and climate change and on the operation of aircraft, airfield and airports;
   • the regulatory framework for aviation: air, environmental, and planning law (including how the planning system works, and case precedents);
   • who’s who in aviation, Government and international bodies, as well as in the legal, acoustic, and environmental consultancy fields; and
   • how to communicate concerns effectively with airports, regulators and aerodrome consultative committees in order to achieve positive outcomes.
2. AEF’s members-only updates and our e-newsletter. These will include alerts of important policy updates or the publication or relevant consultations, and invitations to help inform the AEF’s engagement with policy-makers
3. Attendance at our Annual General Meeting and other seminars and events
4. The opportunity to help guide and support our work programme by standing for election to our Executive Council

Aims and Objectives

AEF’s aim is:

To protect the environment, public health and quality of life through securing policies and measures that ensure effective limits on noise, emissions and other environmental impacts from the aviation sector.

To further this aim, our objectives are:

• to seek effective legislation, policies and other measures by working with local, national and international policy-making and legislative bodies
• to promote practical solutions through consultation and co-operation with AEF members, regulatory and public bodies, the aviation industry, and others
• to support our members and affected communities in liaising with decision-makers and other stakeholders
• to provide advice, analysis and information
• to publicise and promote the role and responsibilities of the Federation

As a member, your contact details are held on our system to allow us to send you updates about our work and details of events by email and/ or post. The list is used for this purpose and is not available to any third parties.

Under the Data Protection Act 1984, we are required to obtain permission for your contact details to be held for this purpose. If you do not wish your details to be kept in this manner, please advise the AEF office in writing.
