You cannot have the third runway and meet climate budgets, AEF tells Transport Select Committee

On Tuesday 8th of September, AEF’s policy manager, Celeste Hicks, appeared before the Transport Select Committee to give evidence in their Scrutiny of the draft Heathrow Expansion National Policy Statement (HENPS).

As part of her evidence, Celeste Hicks explained that the HENPS documents do not adequately safeguard against unacceptable levels of noise pollution, air pollution, and climate-warming emissions. She also touched upon how the key economic justifications underpinning the planned expansion fail to stand up to scrutiny.

Celeste Hicks was joined on the panel by Dr Lois Pennington, Research Associate, The Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research Manchester and Alethea Warrington, Head of Aviation, Energy and Heat, Possible.
